What Happens During Heating Maintenance?

After all, maintenance tune-ups are the only way to ensure that your heater or air conditioner runs as effectively and efficiently as it can, for as long as it can. However, it’s one thing to be told you need routine HVAC maintenance, and another to understand why. Fortunately, we are here to clear that up.

Before winter officially gets here and you start using your heater on a daily basis, we do want to alert you to some basic DIY maintenance tasks that homeowners can and should be doing on their own. One of these tasks is to change out the air filter as needed. The standard HVAC system air filter isn’t there to protect your indoor air quality, but rather the system itself. If the air filters get too clogged up, they restrict airflow and cause a number of issues.

Depending on the type of air filters you have in place, you should be swapping yours out for a clean one every 1-3 months. During this time it’s also a good idea to clear away any debris and clutter from around the outdoor or indoor unit of your heater. Doing so will ensure there’s nothing to block airflow and efficacy.
